The Battle Box

Singapore hotels

A World War II bunker where visitors experience the morning of 15 February 1942 where Lt General made his decision to surrender to the Japanese.

A buried treasure of an attraction lies within the hillside of Fort Canning and is known as the Battle Box. During World War II the Battle Box was the largest underground command centre of the British Malay Command Headquarters.

The Battle Box is made up of twenty two rooms that are connected by a corridor. The battle Box is bomb-proof and also able to recycle its own air for a constant fresh air supply.

Through extensive restoration and usage of audio visual effects and top of the line animatronics visitors are able to relive the Battle Box falling to the Japanese forces on the morning of February 15th 1942.
The battle box is open daily from 10AM until 6PM and the tour takes roughly one hour.

The cost of admission is S$8 for adults and S$5 for children.

The best bet for travelling to the Battle Box is to take the MRT to Dhoby Ghaut Station and walk uphill past Park Mall towards Fort Canning Road.

51 Canning Rise. (65 6333 0510). Nearest MRT Station Dhoby Ghaut.
